Liebe Gastfamilie,
Dear Host Family,
My name is Vivianne and this is my introduction letter to my future host family.
I was born and raised in East Africa, Kenya. My parents’ farm where I was born and raised is in Central Kenya, a place called Nyandarua. Nyandarua is famous for the Aberdare hills and ranges as well as cattle rearing and farming. Born in a family of two, I am the second born in a family of two girls. I was raised in a farm, my mother Catherine Ngari is a lab technician mother while my father is a driver.
My family and I enjoy a very close relationship. We always spend the holidays together at the farm. Easter and Christmas holidays are family holidays in our household and we always have a huge family get together where we catch up, laugh and share in meals. We also go out together, travel the country and spend time as a family regularly.
I went to school in Nyandarua for my primary and secondary education. After high school, I joined Kenyatta University, 400 kms from home. While there, I did my Bachelor’s degree in Education and specialised in English Literature. After university I have had a chance to work in a school setting doing what i love, teaching and imparting knowledge to the future generation.
I speak fluent English and my proficiency level in reading, writing and speaking is excellent. I studied English in primary, secondary and university level. I also speak Swahili which is an official language in Kenya.
Healthy eating and clean diets have always been important for me as well as fitness. I can follow any recipe quickly because i also have a special love for the kitchen and cooking.
My experience with kids is both in formal and informal contexts. Starting at home, I have taken care of sisters daughters who are 7-5 respectively . I have also baby sat for friends and relatives. My experience includes feeding, bathing, cleaning and playing games with kids. I am a friendly person and basically get along well with most people.
As a trained teacher, my experience with children has been in a formal setting and I’m able to be gentle with children while being firm at the same time.
My personality type is ambivert, not introverted and not extroverted. I am orderly and organized and consider responsibility and reliability as my greatest strengths. I love to read books whenever I’m free, go swimming, or hiking. I love the great outdoors.
I would love to aupair because I get to be with kids and do what I naturally love. I have a natural way with kids and it gives me great satisfaction when I can look back and feel like I impacted a family in one way or the other. I am going to also share my African culture with my host family and tell them of my adventures in a different continent, African cusine and more. I believe I would be a great addition to your family.
I chose Germany for its beautiful landscape, interesting history, language and culture. I am excited for the opportunity. I love travelling, getting to learn and immersing myself in a new culture as well as a gap year to learn a new labguage . The German language has always fascinated me and I am really excited that I get to learn the language soon.
I am looking for a live in arrangement with a family that is going to welcome me as their own and I will provide the support they need with their children for a period of 12 months.
Feel free to reach me in case of any queries or clarification. Thank you and looking forward to meeting my host family soon.
Sincerely,
Vivianne
